One of the responses I got was the inspiration behind this post.

She asked for topics or agendas for video calls because unlike if it’s a business meeting that has an agenda, sometimes you just get on the call and aren’t really sure what to say or do.

I think that’s especially true for kids but also for teens and adults. And definitely for families doing calls with various generations of people.

These video scavenger hunt cards are a fun way to get over the stress of figuring out what to say or do on a call. Just pick one of the cards for each call, and you’re golden!

Just know that these are not an actual scavenger hunt – they’re more like guided show and tell discussion cards. If an actual scavenger hunt is what you’re looking for, this virtual scavenger hunt is a blast!

Let’s take a closer look at how this would work.

Video Scavenger Hunt Cards

There are twelve different video scavenger hunt cards included in the downloadable pack below. And each of those cards has three different topics on it.

For example, one of the cards says to find:

A movie you love
A video game you play
A website you visit regularly (this could just be something you talk about)

Whoever is hosting the call would pick the card, read it out loud (or show it on the screen), and everyone would quickly go find those three things.

Set a timer so people don’t get lost in decisions about deciding what their favorite movie is.

When everyone comes back, go through the items people brought back and have kind of a show and tell.

Start with one (e.g., movie) and have everyone go around and talk about them. Then move onto the next item, etc.

You might tell about the first time you say the movie, might say why it’s your favorite, or your favorite quote from the movie.

For the more generic cards like colors – you could just say what the item you went and found is and why you picked it.

And like these family interview questions, these cards can be a great way to get to know more about your family or friends.

Alternate Options

If you want to give people more time to come up with creative items or items that they really want to show off, you could send out the cards/topics ahead of time and let people just bring those items to the call. It’s not as much of a video scavenger hunt, but it’s still a good topic generator.

You could also just read off one thing at a time if you want it to be more of a scavenger hunt element than just finding things once.

Or you could do this as a full on video scavenger hunt where you read each item off, people go and find them, and they get points for finding the items the fastest (or just finding them at all).

Figure out your audience and make the choice that makes the most sense for your call! I just like the idea of using them to actually talk and get to know each other because at this point where we can’t connect in person, actually connecting virtually is even more important!
