July 4th is one of my favorite holidays!

Some of my favorite memories are shooting off fireworks with my family in the cul-de-sac, playing 4th of July bingo , and watching fireworks in DC. I just love looking around and seeing everyone coming together to celebrate our country.

Flag shirts, USA artwork, and Independence Day by Martina McBride, I love it all.

This red white and blue scavenger hunt encompasses all of those things in one family-friendly game!

This scavenger hunt is just one of my favorite 4th of July party games – I’ve got a bunch of other favorites in this 4th of July party ideas post too! And if you want a more clue based hunt, you’ll love this 4th of July scavenger hunt !

Instructions

There are two main types of scavenger hunts – a clue based one and a find all the things on this list based one.

This scavenger hunt is the latter and it’s perfect for splitting into teams and keeping people busy while the hot dogs are cooking or people are waiting to watch fireworks.

And it’s super easy to play.

  1. Give everyone (or each team) a scavenger hunt card.
  2. Give everyone a pen.
  3. Tell everyone to go try and find all of the items on the list.

If you’re doing this as a competition in teams, I highly recommend sending someone with a camera or a phone and having them snap a photo of each of the items on their list to “prove” that they found it.

If you’re doing this with kids, just let them cross things off as they find them.

I do scavenger hunts like this with my 6-year-old all the time – he loves looking for things and finding everything on a list!

One thing to note about this scavenger hunt is that many of the things on the list (fireworks, a star, etc.) are left open to interpretation. It doesn’t necessarily say they have to see actual fireworks being shot off – they could see a fireworks table decoration and that counts.

The one rule is that they cannot use the scavenger hunt card itself to mark things off!

Designs

I decided to mix things up and create two different designs of this scavenger hunt – one with a white background and one with a blue! You can see the white background version in all of the images on this post. I’ve had people not want to waste ink with the blue so I created the white design as well but feel free to choose whichever works best for you!

The blue design version is below – both are included in the downloadable PDF at the bottom of this post!

Prizes

Kids love turning in scavenger hunts for prizes! Here are a couple of small prize ideas that would work great to give to someone who fills out the entire card!

You could even just do a bucket with a mix of these things and let them pick out their favorites!
